p52 Week 4

Finished up the Week 4 photo for Darcy's p52 project over at my3boybarians.com

Week 4--Self-Portrait
I knew I wanted to get a shot of myself in my favorite accessories: red lipstick and pearls.
If my daughter learns just one thing from me, I hope it's to never be afraid of red lipstick.

p52-week 2

I'm a little late in posting my photo this week for the Project 52

Week 2 is "Made with Love"

This is a rosary bracelet made for my Granny by her daughter. The rosary beads come from the rosary of a nun that used to live with my Granny. I've heard stories of her and I know my Granny loved her very much. My Granny gave this bracelet to me during my husband's 3rd deployment. She's one of my favorite people on Earth and anything she gives me I cherish (I have a bunch of her old shoes too!). Although it wasn't her that made it--I'm positive the gesture of her giving it to me was made with love.

project 52 photo challenge-week 1

I've been wanting to really work on my photog skills lately and really make the most use of my camera. What's the point of having a nice camera if I really am not using it to it's full potential, right? My friend, Danielle, turned me onto this 52 week photo project--there's a theme each week and you are free to interpret the theme however you wish. Here's my first submission--having fun already!

Resolution
(i really want to start journaling more...my memory is not at all great and i love the idea of looking back in 30 years and reading how my kids drove me nuts or brought me to tears.)

FOuR YeARS OLd!!

Our first born turned 4 years old 2 days after Christmas this year. It's crazy to think 4 years have gone by so quickly. I almost have a meltdown anticipating what his 8th birthday might feel like. As nuts as my kids make me, I love them little and absolutely do NOT wish for them to grow up. But....they are, and quite rapidly too. Jack's 4 year stats were 35 pounds and 41.5 inches tall. He's the sweetest, most sensitive little boy I've ever encountered and I love him more than life itself.

We had his birthday party a week before Christmas because who really wants to compete with Jesus for attention and my Mom was in town to help me with everything. Jackson requested a fishing party and it was a LOT of fun! Special thanks to my friend, Danielle for snapping photos while I relaxed and drank my wine ;)
the kids "fished" with sticks and magnets!

we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores on *homemade* fish shaped graham crackers!
and...ate cake, of course!

Daddy love.

saw this on pinterest and LOVED the idea--interview your child on their birthday, so CUTE! my favorite response from Jack: Q:If you could have one thing, what would it be? A: A Spiderman phone so I could call Lightning McQueen.
We even tried fishing in our little lake behind our house...no bites, but the kids had a blast!

On his actual birthday we went BOWLING with some great friends!! My kids first time bowling--they're naturals!

Jack and his favorite girls ;)

it's not always like this, they fight, scratch and scream at one another--but for the most part-they are best friends.

Christmas in Virginia!

Our Christmas season started off with Jack's preschool program. He's been practicing his songs since November and he nailed his performance!! It was SO sweet!!

We had a special holiday playgroup at a local farm. They set up a Winter Wonderland to walk through before hitting the petting zoo!
Grace kept trying to ride this goat...too funny.

Finally...it was Christmas Eve!!
We went to mass, which was crazy crowded and Grace asked if the man next to us was "going to bite her." Needless to say, after mass--Mommy and Daddy had a few drinks and set up Santa's gifts.
Still not sure who was more excited on Christmas morning--Daddy or Jack?

making sure he can still hear the bell...
Spiderman was HUGE this Christmas...opening his Spiderman watch!
making sure it looks just like Daddy's :)
Gracie Girl asked for a princess watch and a pony...opening her My Little Pony!
and welcoming her to the fam!
hanging Spiderman from every door and window in our house.
and riding the new bikes!!!
....and wrecking them
